About the role
Assistant Project Managers support project managers in overseeing multiple construction project sites. Duties include coordinating workers, materials, and equipment, as well as assisting with general project-related administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of projects.
- Maintain projects in an orderly and organized manner to ensure a safe and productive worksite.
- Manage and schedule manpower, equipment, material delivery, and subcontractors.
- Handle all required traffic control operations and safety measures.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate project activities to meet goals and objectives within prescribed time frames and budgets.
- Manage suppliers and subcontractors to ensure safety, profit, scheduling, and customer satisfaction.
- Employ best practices in planning and organizing work to maximize crew productivity and equipment utilization.
- Work harmoniously and cooperatively with others at all times.
- Follow directions and instructions from supervisors.
- Perform a variety of tasks that may change often due to work conditions.
- Work within defined standards of accuracy.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions, including temperatures ranging from over 85 degrees to below 40 degrees.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil or other) or Construction Management, and/or 3+ years of work experience.
- Experience with multiple levels of decision-making, managing construction projects, and working with owners and developers.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to administer several tasks independently and concurrently, with ongoing changes in priority.
- Team player with self-confidence and professional presence.
- High degree of maturity and business judgment.
- Ability to use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
- Ability to perform frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to see and hear well (naturally or with correction).
- Ability to travel as requested.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong Viewpoint and HCSS (HeavyBid) software skills.
- Experience with construction scheduling programs, preferably Primavera P6.
- Previous experience with concrete paving.
- Experience in managing City/Municipal/Residential road-building projects.
- Project estimating skills.
- Documentation of construction safety training.
- Experience with daily operations cost tracking systems.
