About the Role

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, execution, and closeout of electrical construction projects. This role assists Project Managers in managing workflow, budgets, scheduling, and communication to ensure projects meet quality, safety, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Project Manager with coordination, planning, and execution of electrical construction projects.
  • Manages project billing processes, budgeting, timelines, and progress.
  • Processes time and material vouchers and tracks project-related costs.
  • Prepares Method of Procedures (MOPs) to support clear execution guidelines.
  • Monitors project progress against milestones and proactively addresses issues.
  • Reviews purchase orders, submittals, and contracts while maintaining the change order log.
  • Coordinates with internal teams to share project updates and ensure alignment.
  • Conducts project meetings to review progress and resolve concerns.
  • Contributes to the evaluation and improvement of project workflows and processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent experience.
  • Four (4) years of experience in the electrical contracting industry, focused on project support.
  • Preferred experience with large commercial construction projects.
  • Preferred background in electrical estimating and cost tracking.
  • Certifications such as PMP or similar are advantageous.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in the successful performance of the job. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a one-for-one year basis or vice versa.

Skills

  • Knowledge of construction processes, electrical systems, and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of codes, regulations, and safety standards in commercial construction.
  • Skill in time management, coordination, and documentation.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Viewpoint, Cosential, or McCormick preferred.
  • Ability to support multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Ability to take initiative and contribute to continuous improvement.

Work Environment

Medium work environment. Indoor and outdoor work with exposure to uncomfortable and hazardous physical, ergonomic, and/or emotional conditions. Work requires lifting up to 50 pounds and wearing protective equipment; exposure to environmental conditions, weather, climbing, crawling, lying, and working under pressure.
