Assistant Project Manager

Major duties and responsibilities Serve as WMATA's representative for the assigned task orders with responsibilities for all phases of the project. Ensure all required tasks are performed on time and within budget. Engage specifically in planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and coordination of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff. Manage stakeholder relationships. Develop project scopes, prepare reports, develop and maintain schedules and budgets, and ensure quality reviews are complete. Identify scheduling and cost variances and make recommendations for corrective action for negative variances. Resolve issues with contractors in a timely manner and ensure that all aspects of the task order remain on schedule and within budget.Background and experience required A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in transit and transportation projects. A minimum of three (3) years working on a multiple task order contract. Successful completion of the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Course. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of project management, to coordinate, review and provide expert technical management for the assigned task orders. Knowledge of project controls, including critical path method scheduling and budgetary control systems. Ability to independently organize and carry out assignments with minimum direction, and to function effectively as a leader of highly professional personnel.
