Assistant Project Manager

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage logistics support needed to maintain and accomplish repairs and renovations to all academic, administrative, residence halls and other facilities
  • Aid and manage all contracted trades personnel and resources and scheduling involving mechanical, plumbing, and electrical
  • Ensure that University standards of conduct are enforced by trades and mechanical personnel
  • Conduct training of facilities employees on functions and safe work practices and procedures
  • Assist the Director of Facilities and Project Manager in preparing operational and project scopes for all Capital Projects
  • Establish goals, policies and internal controls for all areas of responsibility
  • Work to create an environment of responsiveness, service and professionalism with the University community
  • Maintain and update inventories of departmental materials at both satellite locations and the main campus warehouse
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical systems, assess and inspect repairs and maintenance of systems and direct changes as needed
  • Afford assistance in coordinating the addition of project systems into the University Asset Management and preventative maintenance Software
  • Collaborate with external vendors to facilitate boiler, elevator, chillers, and fire safety equipment inspections
  • Coordinate and review ADA sign compliance, including with third party vendors
  • Assist the Assistant Director to coordinate the addition of the project systems into the University Asset Management and preventative maintenance Software
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3 years minimum of progressively responsible experience in the management of the installation, construction, and maintenance of equipment, utilities, and buildings, including pneumatic and electronic control systems
  • High school graduate (diploma/GED) required, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and train technical and tradespersons in automated work order software
  • Management and administrative skills, particularly the ability to analyze, organize and delegate, are required
  • Experience in developing and managing a successful preventive maintenance program is preferred
  • Experience in the maintenance of facilities in a higher education campus setting or with a large facility in a campus setting is preferred
  • Familiarity with methods, practices, and procedures related to sustainability is preferred
  • Computer literacy is required
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Computer Management Systems (CMMS) is required
