General Summary of Position
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a crucial role in the construction process, supporting projects from pre-site inspections to final completion. You'll gain hands-on experience in all phases of installation, from equipment and system installation to coordination with subcontractors and customer communication. This role requires a balance of technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Support project planning and pre-construction activities, including inspections, site visits, and pre-site evaluations.
- Oversee all phases of installation and construction, ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Coordinate schedules and workflows, communicating effectively with subcontractors and managing relationships to ensure smooth project flow.
- Act as the primary customer point of contact, handling inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
- Manage project documentation and financial tasks, including payment schedules and customer communications.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: Not specified
- Years of Experience: 1-3 years in construction, swimming pool, or residential industry
- Required Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Demonstrated time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and iPad
- Travel Requirements: 75%-90% within territory
- Other Requirements: Strong work ethic, ability to work long hours, and decision-making skills for scheduling.

- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, often more
- Standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Communicating promptly and clearly via phone and computer
- Driving or traveling between job sites as needed
Performance KPIs and Job Expectations
- Complete a minimum of 25 job sites per week with detailed canvas reports for each visit
- Maintain a CSS score average of 70, actively involved with turnarounds as needed
- Be in the field and available from Monday to Friday starting at 7:30am, ending no earlier than 4:30pm. Project managers may need to work on Saturdays, depending on the season. Exceptions must be approved in advance by the Construction Manager.
- 100% compliance on mandatory inspections
- Maintain a driver score of 94% from the Fleet Management System
- Maintain regular communication with each customer and respond to all communications within 24 hours during business hours
