About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to support the successful execution of large-scale data center electrical construction projects. The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field leadership, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical construction projects.
- Support procurement activities including material tracking, equipment releases, submittals, and vendor coordination.
- Prepare, distribute, and track Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Coverage with field supervision to ensure labor, materials, and equipment are aligned with project schedules.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents for completeness and constructability.
- Maintain project logs, meeting minutes, action item lists, and cost tracking reports.
- Aid in developing and updating project schedules and short-term work plans.
- Coverage with owners, general contractors, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve project issues and maintain progress.
- Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-builts, O&M manuals, and turnover documentation.
- Monitor project compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
- Aid in estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and overall project controls as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1–5 years of experience in construction project engineering, project coordination, or electrical construction.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to project sites.
Preferred
- Experience with electrical contracting or specialty trades.
- Exposure to mission-critical, industrial, manufacturing, or data center construction projects.
- Familiarity with BIM/VDC processes and coordination.
- Experience with project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or Microsoft Project.
- Understanding of medium-voltage power distribution, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, and critical infrastructure systems.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, excellent teamwork and relationship-building skills, analytical mindset with the ability to identify and solve project challenges, self-motivated with a desire to develop into a Project Manager role, understanding of construction safety principles and OSHA requirements.
