About the role
The Assistant Project Controls Specialist will work within Cumming Group's Education project sector, supporting the team in providing premier educational facilities for students and adult learners.
Responsibilities
- Aid in monitoring the project budget and forecast.
- Participate in monthly EAC meetings to validate and review current EAC’s.
- Conduct cost variance analysis of reported data to identify trends and mitigate potential budget impacts.
- Maintain and manage ETCs for each project.
- Create and maintain standard and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the development of weekly/monthly cost and status reports for the project team.
- Perform necessary data entry for budget and forecast impacts.
- Develop and maintain change management logs per standardized processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with schedulers to review cost and schedule performance.
- Ensure implementation of client policies, procedures, and plans regarding cost management of capital projects.
- Collect/review draft PBA’s with PM’s for monthly submission including cost verification of previous amendments.
- Assist with preparation of reporting on budget and cost as directed by management.
- Assist the Project Managers on project budget issues.
- Coordinate with the Project Managers/Construction Manager to establish and maintain data coding structures, project control tools, and quality data for budgets, contracts, change orders, trends, and actual costs.
- Verify charge codes for purchase requisitions and change orders to ensure proper cost accounting.
- Provide cost coding and budget verification for contract change orders and amendments.
- Perform other job-related duties or projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- 3-5 years professional experience in program and/or project controls on a construction program.
- Experience working through the entire project life cycle.
- Knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of cost/schedule management, earned value management, change management, forecasting, and risk assessment.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
