About the role
The Assistant Program Manager at Evangeline’s House works in an emergency shelter setting, providing care and supervision to up to six Washington State Foster Care youth and emerging adults for a maximum of 30 days while they await placement. The role involves managing staff, overseeing youth, and ensuring compliance with various policies and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing monthly staff meetings and trainings
- Participate in lead/management meetings
- Manage employees and youth within the program’s structure
- Communicate effectively with professional agencies and administration
- Prepare and manage an annual budget
- Compile Evangeline’s House monthly statistics as directed
- Manage Program Operations Specialists with Program Manager
- Aid in the development/revisions of program and practices
- Serve as agency’s public awareness representative
- Attend lead meetings
- Prepare and present disciplinary actions when needed
- Fill in for staff when necessary; provide relief for staff breaks when necessary
- Oversee staff schedules, timesheet procedures and breaks
- Keep Background Check Log
- Contribute to a positive morale in the program
- Support new employees/volunteers by explaining the program and policies and procedures
- Follow and ensure compliance of all Child Safety policies and procedures
- Ensure HIPAA, WAC guidelines, contract, licensing and local policy and procedures compliance
- Model appropriate social and interpersonal behaviors for youth
- Comply with youth disciplinary guidelines
- Properly implement behavior management (de-escalation and restraint)
- Aid in planning activities and participating when necessary
- Manage youth transportation needs; HEART Program, school bus schedule and off-site needs
- Accompany youth to school and appointments as needed (driving, riding or walking)
- Ensure the safety of all children in care
- Administer medications to youth and document daily
- Communicate (and document) with caseworkers and other agencies regarding youth in care
- Ensure repair and supply requests are communicated as required
- Conduct and/or oversee monthly fire drills; report written results to the Program Manager
- Maintain facility security by ensuring windows and doors are locked; report any security concerns
- Clean the facility and do laundry when needed
- Assist with snow removal when necessary
- Work different shifts on occasion
Requirements
- 21 years of age
- Proficient in typing, organizing and filing
- Some working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other software
- Self-motivated and work with a minimum of supervision
- Maintain confidentiality with personal information
- Possess knowledge/experience of customer service, social services and local resources
- Valid Driver’s License with clear driving record
- Successfully complete TSA Driver Training
- Successfully complete HIPAA Training
- Have or obtain a First Aid/CPR card
- Have or obtain training on Bloodborne Pathogens
- Have or take de-escalation and restraint training
- Have Food Handlers permit
- Have or take HIPAA Training
- Capable of auditory and visual supervision; verbally and physically interact with children in care
- Possess skills/abilities to successfully work with the challenging behaviors of youth in care
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- High personal standards of cleanliness and thoroughness
- Be available to be on-call to cover other shifts during the week; some Holidays
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work or a related field
- Five years of successful related experience (need High School Diploma or GED)
- One or more years of supervisory experience, preferred
