Assistant Professor Tenure Track Position — Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Cardiovascular Institute and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania

About the role

The successful candidate will develop an independent, extramurally supported research program focused on fundamental or translational questions relevant to pediatric heart and vascular biology and disease. They will be a member of the newly established CHOP Cardiovascular Institute (CVI).

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a scientifically impactful independent research program that has relevance to pediatric heart and vascular biology and disease.
• Sustain significant extramural funding.
• Participate in graduate and/or medical student education.
• Mentor trainees at multiple career stages.
• Present lectures and lead didactic sessions as appropriate.
• Contribute to the development of breakthrough therapeutics and diagnostics for pediatric heart and vascular diseases.

Requirements

• An M.D. and/or Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
• Experience in fundamental mechanistic or translational research relevant to pediatric cardiovascular disease.
• Ability to establish and maintain a scientifically impactful independent research program.
• Extramural funding experience.

Qualifications

• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Track record of securing extramural funding.
• Experience in mentoring trainees at multiple career stages.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
