Assistant Professor Tenure Track Position — Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Cardiovascular Institute and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania

About the role

The successful candidate will develop an independent, extramurally supported research program focused on fundamental or translational questions relevant to pediatric heart and vascular biology and disease.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a scientifically impactful independent research program that has relevance to pediatric heart and vascular biology and disease.
• Sustain significant extramural funding.
• Teaching responsibilities may include participating in graduate and/or medical student education; mentoring trainees at multiple career stages; presenting lectures and leading didactic sessions as appropriate.
• Research or scholarship responsibilities may include conducting independent research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at national/international conferences.
• May include clinical responsibilities for qualified clinician-scientists, though these are not applicable for basic scientist candidates.

Requirements

• An M.D. and/or Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
• Experience in fundamental mechanistic or translational research relevant to pediatric cardiovascular disease.
• Ability to establish and maintain a scientifically impactful independent research program.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
• Research experience in pediatric cardiovascular disease.
• Track record of securing external funding.
• Ability to mentor trainees at multiple career stages.
