About the role
The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the tenure track.
Teaching responsibilities
- High-quality teaching of CHOP fellows and residents
- Teaching medical students from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania
Clinical responsibilities
- Providing coverage in one or more of three inpatient consultation services: a service focused on children with general infectious diseases, a service dedicated to the care of immunocompromised hosts, and an attending-NP service currently focused on NICU and Orthopedic patients
- Seeing patients in the Division's busy outpatient clinical practice
- Collaborative outpatient care in dedicated "partner clinics" for patients with underlying conditions including malignancies, bone marrow and organ transplantation, and cystic fibrosis
- Some local travel may be required as CHOP expands its footprint (King of Prussia Hospital, potential sites in NJ) and the Division partners with outside organizations
Research or scholarship responsibilities
- Fundamental or translational research in the field of infectious diseases
Qualifications
- M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree
- Strong record of research productivity
- Interest in fundamental or translational research in the field of infectious diseases

The Division of Infectious Diseases at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia invites applications for an outstanding laboratory investigator to join the vibrant research environment in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute (http://www.research.chop.edu). The Division has a strong track record of basic and clinical research across the spectrum of pediatric infections and host-microbe interactions. Candidates will also benefit from the larger research community across the University of Pennsylvania campus, which encompasses expertise in virology, immunology, bacteriology, parasitology, and the microbiome.
