About the role

The Department of Physics at Simon Fraser University seeks applications from exceptional experimental physics candidates for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor to work at the interface between silicon-based quantum information and photonics. SFU Physics is carving out a distinct profile within the quantum information science community at a time when the commercialization of quantum information technology is both growing and transforming the field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in the field of silicon-based quantum information and photonics
  • Collaborate with other researchers and students to advance knowledge in quantum information science
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physics and related areas
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives to promote the study and application of quantum information science

Requirements

  • A PhD in Physics or a closely related field
  • Strong research record in experimental physics, particularly in quantum information and photonics
  • Excellent teaching skills and a commitment to student success
  • Ability to secure external funding for research projects
