Assistant Professor,Soft Condensed Matter, Biological Physics
MIT’s Physics Department, located in Cambridge, MA, seeks a tenure-track faculty member in Soft Condensed Matter, Biological Physics, and Physics of Learning. Preference will be given to candidates whose research complements the Physics of Living Systems Group.
About the role
Faculty members conduct independent research, teach undergraduate and graduate physics courses, and supervise graduate and undergraduate research. Candidates must demonstrate promise in both research and teaching.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in physics or a physics-related discipline by the start of employment

Pay
The pay range for a 9-month academic appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is $140,000 – $156,000. The final offer will reflect factors such as scope of the position, candidate experience, internal peer equity, and legal requirements. This range represents base pay only and does not include benefits or additional compensation.
