About the role
Simmons University, located in Boston's historic Fenway area, has a strong tradition of empowering women and challenging traditional gender roles. Founded 125 years ago as one of the first higher education institutions dedicated to helping women become leaders, Simmons now offers Boston's only women's undergraduate program and graduate programs open to all. The university recently launched a six‑school academic structure that leverages expert faculty and longstanding expertise in professions that strengthen communities, and continues to highlight its high‑value education proposition that delivers greater ROI to students and puts them on the fast track to career growth and success. Simmons prepares students to become social justice‑oriented leaders who excel in their professions and communities, and its faculty and staff share a commitment to excellence and putting students first. As a university that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, Simmons encourages applications from all under‑represented groups and is committed to inclusive hiring practices at all levels.
Why Simmons University? The Simmons University School of Social Work (SSW) is the nation's oldest and New England's largest school of social work, nationally known for excellence in clinical education, including deep dives into practice models (CBT, DBT, Trauma Informed, Solution‑Focused, Motivational Interviewing, and more) and innovative classroom simulations. Faculty engage in research that advances equity and evidence‑based practice, exploring critical areas such as racial dynamics, suicide assessment and prevention, impacts of trauma, intimate partner violence, health disparities, child maltreatment, homelessness, aging, and social policy. Teaching opportunities are supported by small classes and close student‑teacher relationships in CSWE‑accredited BSW and MSW programs (on‑campus and nationwide via the SocialWork@Simmons platform), with additional mentoring and teaching in online PhD and DSW programs. Situated in the heart of Boston's world‑renowned Longwood Medical Area, Simmons offers rich interdisciplinary research partnerships, clinical networks, and access to world‑class cultural and sports offerings in a dynamic, highly walkable city.
