About the Role

The Assistant Professor of Radiography will assist the Associate Dean/Program Director and Associate Professor/Clinical Coordinator in planning, preparing, organizing, and presenting educational materials to students enrolled in the School of Radiography. The role includes assisting with demonstration and simulation check-offs of radiographic procedures in the skills lab, providing feedback to students in classroom and clinical settings, and supporting student placement at clinical sites to ensure a 1:1 student-to-staff ratio in accordance with JRCERT Standards. The Assistant Professor will visit clinical sites routinely, maintain communication with clinical preceptors, and support programmatic mission, goals, and compliance with accreditation standards. In the absence of the Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator, this role may assume their responsibilities. Additional duties include assisting with student recruitment and maintaining continued professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and presenting educational materials for radiography students.
  • Demonstrate and simulate radiographic procedures in the skills lab.
  • Provide feedback to students to promote learning in classroom and clinical settings.
  • Assist with student placement at clinical sites to maintain a 1:1 student-to-staff ratio per JRCERT Standards.
  • Conduct routine visits to clinical sites and maintain communication with clinical preceptors.
  • Support the programmatic mission, goals, and student learning outcomes while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator during planned or unforeseen absences.
  • Assist with recruitment of potential students.
  • Maintain continued professional development.
  • Enforce student clinical, academic, grading, and disciplinary policies.
  • Orient students to the department and facility.
  • Evaluate course outcomes and implement curriculum revisions based on data.
  • Complete mandatory in-services and professional development as required by accreditors and institutions.
  • Function as a team member and maintain effective relationships with colleagues.

Requirements

  • Current ARRT certification and licensure by the state of Arkansas.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiography program with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum of two years’ clinical experience in the professional curriculum.
  • One year of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited program.
  • Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.

Skills

  • Knowledgeable in demonstrating and performing diagnostic medical imaging procedures.
  • Skilled in preparing and implementing curricula in accordance with program requirements, standards of practice, ASRT guidelines, and accreditation standards.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to maintain required certifications and punctual, regular attendance.
  • Ability to teach Radiography clearly and concisely.
  • Skill in planning teaching methodology to meet course objectives and measure educational effectiveness.
  • Ability to practice proper body mechanics.
  • Ability to perform job duties with limited remote work, if permitted.
