About the role
The Assistant Professor I – Radiography position at Indian River State College is dedicated to educating the next generation of radiologic technologists. You will provide instruction across classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, foster a supportive learning environment, and collaborate with colleagues and healthcare partners to deliver high-quality educational experiences.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support program development, scheduling, marketing, and instruction.
- Supervise and mentor radiography program adjunct faculty.
- Coordinate clinical experiences with area health care agencies.
- Instruct courses in radiography theory, laboratory, and clinical skills related to the curriculum.
- Evaluate student progress through examinations and observations of performance.
- Support student success through individual counseling and advising.
- Support students' professional development through appropriate organizations.
- Participate in department, division, and general faculty meetings, applicable college committee activities, and other forms of college service.
- Maintain an active program of professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs.
- Make recommendations on budgetary, curriculum, and program management matters to the Program Director of Radiology.
- Serve as liaison for the Radiologic Technology Department/Health Science Division and IRSC to the surrounding community.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Science from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-time work and/or instructional experience in the field as a radiographer.
- Valid registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.
- Licensed by the Florida Department of Health as a Certified Radiologic Technologist.
- Current knowledge and technical practice of radiography.
- Meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
- Meet the credentialing requirements outlined in IRSC's credentialing manual.
Physical Demands
- The ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, and stoop.
- Sufficient eyesight to observe patients, manipulate equipment, and evaluate procedural results.
- Sufficient hearing to assess patient needs and communicate verbally with students and other health care providers.
- Sufficient verbal and written skills to communicate needs promptly and effectively in English.
- Sufficient gross and fine motor coordination to respond promptly to the patient’s needs, manipulate equipment, lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and ensure overall patient safety.
- The ability to operate standard office machines, such as a copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
