Assistant Professor – Project Management (Tenure Track - 9 month)

Location: Big Rapids (Main Campus), MI

Position type: Full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty position. Continuing appointment with just-cause termination. Salary range: $95,000–$105,000, commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FFA Agreement. Comprehensive benefit package included.

About the Role

Ferris State University seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Project Management. The position is student-oriented, with faculty expected to advise, integrate current technology into the learning environment, and mentor students beyond traditional academic advising. Candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, engage in scholarly/professional activities, and participate in department, college, and university committees. Off-campus and online teaching may be required. Courses are taught in person on Ferris State University campuses. The selected candidate must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Teach full-time during the 9-month academic year, including courses at both the Big Rapids and Grand Rapids campuses.
• Recruit students through university-outreach events, including Dawg Days, Admitted Student Days, high school visits, and career tech center visits (some events may occur on Saturdays).
• Serve on program, college, and university committees.
• Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development, assessment, and quality assurance.
• Teach and coordinate elective courses in areas of expertise.
• Collaborate in the design and implementation of additional undergraduate and graduate degrees.
• Maintain records, conduct assessments, and handle advising and administrative duties in accordance with university policies.
• Act as a liaison between the program and professional organizations through active involvement.
• Support student success through involvement with student organizations, competitions, and mentorship.
• Remain current in the profession and demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion in working relationships.
• Support and promote university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
• Develop new curricular initiatives and fulfill professional responsibilities, including advising, orientation, registration, and participation in university committees.
• Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, and supports individual similarities and differences.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited university in Project Management, Management, Business Administration, Management of Information Systems, or a related field. Alternatively, a Master’s degree with tested experience evidenced by certifications and professional experience in Project Management. If the degree is in a closely related field, a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Project Management is required.
• Minimum of three years of experience managing projects, people, schedules, budgets, risks, or other project-management-related knowledge areas.
• Teaching or training experience in the related field.
• Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate (Ph.D. or DBA) from an accredited university in Management, Business Administration, Management of Information Systems, or a related field.
• Current Certified Agile Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certificate or related PMI certifications.
• Additional teaching or training experience.
