About the role

The Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, invites applications from well-qualified individuals for one full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in International Relations. We are seeking to hire a candidate who specializes in topics related to international security, conflict processes, or human rights. The position will commence in fall 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in International Relations and the undergraduate culminating experience course, in which students complete a research project of their own design.
  • Contribute to the department’s course offerings in political methodology at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Engage in research leading to scholarly, peer-reviewed publications.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Provide appropriate levels of service at the department, college, and university levels.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Political Science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Evidence of teaching experience.
  • Evidence of research productivity.
  • The ability to develop a research agenda resulting in publications in high-quality outlets.

Qualifications

  • Absent degree candidates will be considered.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
  • Candidates MUST be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Pay

Schedule
