About the role

The Department of Social Work in the College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a Assistant Professor of the Practice (non-tenure-track), nine-month, Social Work faculty position.

Responsibilities

  • Teach five courses (15 credit semester hours) each semester
  • Advising department of Social Work students (BSW/MSW)
  • Work with Director of Field Education to assist students with internship placements
  • Participate in Department of Social Work curriculum and program development
  • Serve on Department of Social Work committees
  • Aid MSW Field Director with students' internship placements and supervision
  • Engage in student recruitment
  • Committee assignments at all levels of the University, College, Department of Social Work
  • Provide services to the community and the profession

Requirements

  • An MSW (Master of Social Work) from a CSWE (Council on Social Work Education) accredited program
  • Minimum of 5 years post-MSW practice experience, at least three years of which must be direct clinical practice
  • LMSW Clinical licensure, or Licensure eligible

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment and respect in working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
  • A record of publication commensurate with appointment at the rank of assistant/associate professor and evidence of ongoing research projects
  • A record of extramural funding
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the graduate levels
  • Strong collegial, communication, and collaborative teamwork skills
  • Evidence of a relational approach to working with students and colleagues
  • Knowledge of relevant national accrediting bodies and professional standards, including CSWE accreditation processes
