About the role
The Department of Social Work in the College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a Assistant Professor of the Practice (non-tenure-track), nine-month, Social Work faculty position.
Responsibilities
- Teach five courses (15 credit semester hours) each semester
- Advising department of Social Work students (BSW/MSW)
- Work with Director of Field Education to assist students with internship placements
- Participate in Department of Social Work curriculum and program development
- Serve on Department of Social Work committees
- Aid MSW Field Director with students' internship placements and supervision
- Engage in student recruitment
- Committee assignments at all levels of the University, College, Department of Social Work
- Provide services to the community and the profession
Requirements
- An MSW (Master of Social Work) from a CSWE (Council on Social Work Education) accredited program
- Minimum of 5 years post-MSW practice experience, at least three years of which must be direct clinical practice
- LMSW Clinical licensure, or Licensure eligible
Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment and respect in working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
- A record of publication commensurate with appointment at the rank of assistant/associate professor and evidence of ongoing research projects
- A record of extramural funding
- Evidence of effective teaching at the graduate levels
- Strong collegial, communication, and collaborative teamwork skills
- Evidence of a relational approach to working with students and colleagues
- Knowledge of relevant national accrediting bodies and professional standards, including CSWE accreditation processes
