Assistant Professor of the Practice (Architecture)

This is a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of the Practice position to teach architecture design studios, theory, professional practice, and technical-based courses, and mentor students.

Responsibilities

• Teach architecture design studios, theory, professional practice, and technical-based courses.
• Conduct research and service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Terminal degree in Architecture (M.ARCH or Ph.D. in Architecture) from a NAAB-accredited program.
• Five (5) years of teaching experience at the college level in undergraduate or graduate instruction.
• Licensed Architect with a minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in architectural firms.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach architectural design studios at all levels, as well as theory, professional practice, and technical architecture courses.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate design studios and support students in preparation for professional careers in architecture.
• Excellent written, oral, graphic, and technological communication skills.
• Proficiency in architectural, graphic, and related design software.
• Demonstrated experience in architectural/planning writing, publication, scholarship, exhibitions, conferences, and/or workshops.
• Knowledge of architecture accreditation and assessment processes.
• Demonstrated experience in project programming, design, and technical documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and contribute to the academic and professional development of students.
• Engagement with professional organizations and/or professional practice in architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in the field of Architecture.
• Ten (10) years of architectural practice with a broad portfolio demonstrating real-world experience applicable to the classroom and studio.
• Certifications in the US Green Building Council LEED program.
