About the role

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2027. The department seeks candidates with strong potential for research and teaching in statistics. Applicants whose research interests include machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science or biostatistics are preferred, but strong applicants in all research areas will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an active program of research and scholarship
  • Pursue opportunities for external funding
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Contribute appropriate service to the department, university, and profession
  • Mentor students in UNCG's growing B.S. in Statistics and M.S. in Applied Statistics programs, including supervision of undergraduate research and M.S. Capstone projects

Qualifications

  • Hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related discipline by August 1, 2027
