Assistant Professor of Quantitative Sociology (tenure-track)

About the role

The Department of Sociology at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for an assistant professor (tenure-track) position with expertise in quantitative sociology set to begin in the fall of 2027. We especially welcome applications from scholars with proven expertise in AI-assisted, computational, network, or advanced statistical methods. Duties include teaching, research, and service. This position is affiliated with the Data, AI, and Computing (DAC) Initiative and will have teaching responsibilities with both the department of Sociology and the College of Arts & Letters Data Science programs.

About the department

The Department of Sociology at Notre Dame has long-standing excellence in the sociology of culture, education, movements and politics, religion, and theory. In recent years, we have established strengths in several other sociological areas, including family, gender & sexuality, global & transnational, health, organizations & institutions, race & ethnicity, and stratification. Qualifications

• Candidates at the entry level must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. degree or have completed all but dissertation in Sociology or a closely related field.
• Candidates at the advanced assistant professor level must have a Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related field.
• The University of Notre Dame and its Department of Sociology are committed to teaching excellence and mentorship at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
