The School of Business at the University of Kansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Operations and Supply-Chain Management, beginning August 18, 2027. While all areas of operations/supply chain will be considered, emphasis may be given to emerging topics such as blockchain, digital transformation of supply chain, and supply-chain analytics.

About the role

This full-time, tenure-track position involves research, teaching, and service contributions to the School of Business, which offers undergraduate, master’s (full-time and online), and doctoral programs. The School is housed in Capitol Federal Hall, a modern facility on KU’s main campus in Lawrence, Kansas.

Responsibilities

  • 40% Research: Develop and sustain an active program of scholarly research in operations management and related fields, leading to publications in high-quality academic journals, scholarly presentations, and other research contributions.
  • 40% Teaching: Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in operations management and related disciplines. Contribute to student learning through instruction, mentoring, advising, curriculum development, and other educational activities.
  • 20% Service: Engage in service activities supporting the area, school, university, profession, and broader community through committee participation, professional engagement, outreach, and student support.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a discipline directly related to Operations and Supply Chain Management (must be earned by August 18, 2027).
  • Demonstrated or evidence of high potential for scholarship excellence, including publications in leading academic journals in operations management and/or business analytics, and promising research projects.
  • Demonstrated or evidence of high potential for teaching excellence in supply-chain management and/or business analytics, with a focus on contemporary and emerging topics.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. by the effective date of the appointment.

Additional Information

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics.
