Assistant Professor of Management
Summary of Job Duties
The Department of Management in the Sam M Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position with a specialization in organizational behavior, human resource management, and/or organizational research methods. The expected start date is August 2027. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Job duties include research, teaching, and service. Conducting and publishing research in the top academic journals in management is the primary job duty. Teaching expectations include teaching in person classes at the undergraduate, masters, or doctoral level, and holding in-person office hours. The college requires service to the profession, university, and department at a level consistent with faculty rank. We also expect faculty to actively engage in department, college, and university activities at a level consistent with the AACSB designation of a participating faculty member. Regular on-campus availability, in-person teaching, and active contribution to the life of the department, including exhibiting respect and cooperation in shared academic and administrative tasks are essential duties.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in management specializing in organizational behavior, human resource management, and/or organizational research methods or a Ph.D. in a related discipline (e.g., industrial/organizational psychology) from an AACSB (or equivalent) accredited university
- Demonstrated record, or strong potential, of publications in top-tier management journals
- Record of presentations at major academic conferences and papers under review at top-tier management journals
- Candidates must have the ability and interest to teach courses in organizational behavior, human resources management, and/or organizational research methods
- Candidates must meet standards to be classified as a Scholarly Academic for AACSB purposes
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong research record and demonstrated leadership roles in research projects that result in top-tier journal publications
- Pipeline of research including manuscripts under second or third revision at top tier management journals
- Demonstrated ability to provide an excellent learning environment in the classroom
- Interest in working with doctoral students and serving or chairing their dissertation committees
- Demonstrated active engagement with on-campus environment and participation in on-campus activities
Additional Information
The Department of Management is comprised of faculty focusing their research in the broad areas of human resource management and organizational behavior. Tenured and tenure-track faculty include Rachel Burgess, John Delery, James Diefendorff, Lindsey Greco, Ekonkar Kaur, Christopher Rosen, Adam Stoverink, Kristina Tirol-Carmody, and Michael Wilmot. Our faculty have consistently published in top tier management journals including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, and Personnel Psychology, as well as other top outlets. The department consistently ranks in the top 25 of Departments of Management in research (top 15 when accounting for size) as ranked by the TAMU/GA rankings. In addition, our faculty have received best paper awards from journals and conferences, serve in editorial positions at numerous top journals, and have held leadership positions in the Academy of Management. We also have a historically strong doctoral program with a record of placing our students in Research I universities. The Walton College of Business offers faculty a competitive teaching load and a supportive environment for conducting research targeted at top-tier journals.
