About the role

The Interior Design Program at Texas State University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction. The successful candidate will have a strong background in design technologies and be highly proficient in integrating cutting-edge digital tools, software, and workflows into interior design education and professional practice. This is a 9-month renewable appointment with the possibility of summer teaching. As a part of the School of Family and Consumer Sciences, the Interior Design program enrolls approximately 500 majors with 17 full-time faculty members serving the program. Graduates from our Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) accredited interior design program are qualified for careers helping others improve interior environments while expressing their own creative abilities. Graduates are academically prepared to take the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) examination that must be passed to register as an interior designer in Texas and many other states.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in interior design
  • Supervise design projects and portfolio development
  • Develop and revise curriculum to meet accreditation standards
  • Engage in appropriate levels of service to the school, college, and profession
