Assistant Professor of Instruction in Korean Language
About the role
The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at Northwestern University invites applications for a benefits-eligible, non-tenure track, full-time Assistant Professor of Instruction in Korean language to begin on September 1, 2027. The successful candidate will work with existing faculty members in the Korean Language Program and must be able to teach elementary to advanced Korean language for both heritage and non-heritage language learners.
Responsibilities
- Six-course teaching load (typically two per quarter) at all levels
Requirements
- Ph.D. in foreign pedagogy, second language education, Korean language/linguistics, applied linguistics, or other related field
- Teaching experience in U.S. higher education
- Native or near-native proficiency in both Korean and English

Pay
The expected base pay range for this position is $70,000 – $85,000 for a nine-month academic appointment; this range does not include summer salary and is subject to negotiation. The final offer will be determined based on factors including the candidate’s experience and qualifications, departmental budget availability, internal comparators, and external market pay for comparable roles.
