Assistant Professor of Graduate Nursing

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) College of Graduate Nursing Faculty-level position combining an Assistant Professor role and an administrative appointment. The salary range reflects total compensation for both responsibilities.

Pay

Base salary range: $120,000 – $128,469.99 annually.

About the Role

Serve as an Assistant Professor in the Master of Science in Nursing – Entry (MSN-E) program. Responsibilities include teaching, scholarly and research activities, institutional and community service, participation in College committees, and maintaining professional competency.

Responsibilities

• Teach in the MSN-E program with a clinical focus in Medical-Surgical, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, or Mental Health specialty. May also teach in other CGN programs.
• Facilitate student-centered learning in theory, lab, and clinical practice in BRN-approved content areas.
• Advise and guide students to ensure success as nursing students and new nurses.
• Assess and evaluate clinical preceptors and clinical education sites; perform site visits and mentor students in clinical settings.
• Teach in other Western University programs to promote interprofessional education.
• Attend and participate in College and University functions (e.g., Commencement, Convocation, White Coat, Pinning).
• Engage in curriculum development or evaluation, CGN and University committees, and faculty development programs.
• Contribute to annual revisions of the Student and Clinical handbooks.
• Maintain clinical competency in area of specialty.
• Participate in academic support activities such as conferences, seminars, and student recruiting.
• Develop a program of research or evidence-based practice; contribute one piece of scholarship per academic year.
• Participate in the CGN Mentorship Program.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of the MSN-E program and Dean of the College of Graduate Nursing.

Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution (required).
• Current and valid license as a registered nurse (required).
• Two years of clinical experience (required).
• Doctoral degree (preferred).
• Two years of teaching experience in nursing education (preferred).
• Specialty in Pediatric, Mental Health, or Medical-Surgical Nursing (preferred).
• Specialty certification (preferred).

• Expertise in entry-level nursing and advanced practice of nursing.
• Ability to design, implement, and evaluate courses, lectures, and seminars; assess student achievement.
• Knowledge of basic and advanced clinical skills required in multiple nursing settings.
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and reports of student performance.
• Ability to communicate effectively with health professionals contributing to clinical/didactic education.
• Collaborative skills to work with colleagues, staff, and administration to advance institutional mission.
• Basic computer literacy and skills in emerging teaching technologies.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing technological advancements in curriculum delivery.
