Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship
About the role
The Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship will develop curriculum innovation within the entrepreneurship major and minor to support DEIB/sustainability initiatives and experiential learning. They will also support entrepreneurship through participation in external events and internal events, and support the creation of an Entrepreneurship Center emphasizing sustainability and underserved entrepreneurs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum innovation within the entrepreneurship major and minor to support DEIB/sustainability initiatives and experiential learning.
- Participate in external events (competitions, conferences) as well as internal events.
- Create and maintain the Entrepreneurship Center, emphasizing sustainability and underserved entrepreneurs.
- Organize the freshmen Brennan Business Idea Competition (MGMT 197) and sophomore Brennan Business Challenge Competition (ENTR 297) with departmental colleagues.
- Support the Entrepreneurs LaunchPad Fund Competition (juniors, seniors, recent alumni) with the Department Chair, Entrepreneurship/Management Executive in Residents.
- Teach 21 credit hours within entrepreneurship/management, corresponding to seven courses during an academic year.
- Advise undergraduate students and transfer students.
- Participate in AACSB Assurance of Learning (AOL) activities and deliver timely reports to the Dean, Associate Dean, and Department Chair.
- Organize entrepreneurial competitions with departmental colleagues (Business Idea Competition, Business Challenge Competition, Entrepreneurs LaunchPad Fund).
Requirements
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship/Management or a related field. Alternatively, applicants who are ABD candidates from an AACSB accredited institution will also be considered if their degree is conferred by the time the appointment begins. Prior teaching experience at HSIs or minority serving institutions, or demonstrated experience in creating and implementing active or experiential learning opportunities and programs for diverse student populations, is preferred.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a strong commitment to DEIB/sustainability initiatives and a passion for experiential learning. They should also possess excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
