Assistant Professor of Dentistry

The Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology (CCMB) of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California (USC) is recruiting outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor to conduct cutting-edge research in the areas of cell and developmental biology, tissue regeneration, cell signaling, gene regulation, computational modeling, head and neck cancer, and other congenital or acquired human diseases using genetic, genomic, and/or epigenomic approaches.

About the role

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in developmental biology, cell biology, genetics, or molecular biology. Candidates with both a Ph.D. and either a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a strong record of high-quality research with significant publications in their field. Candidates with K99/R00 or other independent support are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Conduct innovative research in the areas of cell and developmental biology, tissue regeneration, cell signaling, gene regulation, computational modeling, head and neck cancer, and other congenital or acquired human diseases using genetic, genomic, and/or epigenomic approaches.
• Collaborate with faculty and students from various departments within the USC Health Sciences campus.
• Engage in interdisciplinary research projects and collaborations.
• Develop and maintain a competitive research program that aligns with the mission and goals of the CCMB.
• Supervise graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
• Participate in departmental, university, and external committees and initiatives.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Ph.D. in developmental biology, cell biology, genetics, or molecular biology.
• A strong publication record in relevant scientific journals.
• Experience in conducting research using genetic, genomic, and/or epigenomic approaches.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to secure external funding.

Pay
