Job Summary

This position primarily involves the evaluation and treatment of patients as part of the outpatient faculty practice and at the various University of Miami‑affiliated clinics and hospitals, including Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, while supervising trainees in the provision of clinical services. The role includes opportunities for participation in research and other academic activities of a rapidly growing Department of Psychiatry with a national reputation for research, teaching, and clinical service.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely, comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and follow‑up of all patients, providing an excellent educational experience for trainees.
• Provide administrative leadership for staff, including recruitment efforts and assisting in interviews.
• Monitor patient‑care load to guarantee excellent patient care and adequate supervision and educational experience for all trainees.
• Facilitate communication between faculty, trainees, and staff by coordinating and participating in regular meetings.
• Address clinical and administrative concerns of patients and their families, faculty, and trainees.
• Liaise with various faculty to develop specialty clinics, create opportunities for recruitment and research collaboration, and enhance patient care and educational experiences.

Requirements

• Medical degree (M.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) with board eligibility in psychiatry.
• Unrestricted Florida medical license.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Mentorship

Dr. Barbara Coffey, Professor and Chair, and Dr. Dante Durand will mentor and support the incumbent, helping them adjust to the University and faculty status during the first year of employment.
