About the role

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch is recruiting an Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) to join their Medical Genetics and Metabolism team. This position will evaluate, diagnose, manage, treat, and counsel patients of all ages with hereditary disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with hereditary disorders
  • Utilize cytogenetic, molecular, genomic, and biochemical testing for diagnostic services
  • Implement disease-specific interventions such as surveillance protocols, enzyme replacement therapy, gene therapies, etc.
  • Provide education in the form of lectures and rotation experience for various trainees including medical students, physician assistant students, genetic counseling students, pediatric residents, maternal fetal medicine fellows, surgical oncology fellows, and dietetic interns

Requirements

  • Completed an approved residency or fellowship training program in Medical Genetics
  • Held a Texas Medical License without restrictions

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Clinical Genetics
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Medical Biochemical Genetics

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Pay

Salary is commensurate with experience.
