Assistant Professor of Clinical - OBGYN, Labor and Delivery

About the role

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences, Division of OB/GYN Generalist, at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Professor of Clinical.

Core Job Functions

• Active participation in the inpatient practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology at various locations.
• Advancement and education of “OB/GYN” medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Development and execution of a comprehensive medical treatment plan addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural domains.
• Physical assessment of patients in a logical and respectful manner.
• Prescription of medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
• Gathering of essential and accurate information through the review of pertinent records and interviews with the patient, family members, caregivers, and other health professionals.
• Reporting of hazardous or unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, and supply instrument inadequacies to appropriate personnel.
• Reporting of Quality Assurance (QA) incidences, including mediation errors, to responsible physician using department guidelines.
• Participation in continuing educational offerings to increase knowledge and expertise.
• Making informed decisions about interventions based on patient information and preference, up-to-date scientific evidence in the field, and clinical judgment.
• Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
• Adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguarding University assets.

Department Specific Functions

• Providing comprehensive obstetrical and gynecologic care to women alongside allied health professionals, specialists, and subspecialists.
• Specialty care including uterine fibroids, sexual health, pelvic pain, vulvar abnormalities, family planning, preconception counseling, cervical dysplasia, and anal dysplasia.
• A strong commitment to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and conducting research.
• Clinical investigation covering a broad range of domains such as patient-oriented, translational, epidemiologic, behavioral, outcomes, implementation, or health services research.
• Daily interaction and teaching to our 28+ residents and medical students.

Education

• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• Certification in relevant specialty or field required.
• Active Florida Medical License & DEAC Credentialing needed.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Minimum Requirements: MD/DO, BE/BC in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Full, unrestricted Florida Medical license, and dedication to teaching and research.

Additional Responsibilities

• Inpatient L&D at Jackson Holtz Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
• Required to cover 12 hours shifts on L&D, 12 shifts per month (6-day & 6-night shifts, 2 of which are weekends).
• Direct care to OB/GYN patients.
• Consultation for hospitalized patients on L&D service.
• Consultation for nonservice unit patients by telephone.
• Use of Cerner for documentation and MobileCharge for billing.
