About the Role

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Colorado College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in Computational Chemistry. The department fosters a supportive and inclusive community of faculty and students who share a passion for chemistry and biochemistry, leveraging the chemical sciences to promote scientific inquiry through interdisciplinary, experiential learning and research. Responsibilities

• Teach six blocks per year, including General Chemistry (CH107, CH108), foundational courses, and upper-level electives in the faculty member's area of expertise. One of the six teaching blocks is dedicated to mentored research.
• Contribute to Colorado College's General Education Program.
• Develop and maintain an active research program that mentors undergraduate research students.
• Engage in department and college service.
• Advise students interested in chemistry and biochemistry.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field required by the start of employment. ABD candidates who will complete their Ph.D. before August 2027 will be considered.
• Expertise in computational chemistry, broadly defined, with research that develops and/or applies computational approaches to address problems in chemistry, biochemistry, or related interdisciplinary fields.
• Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research in a liberal arts setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Broad teaching experience in chemistry, including computational chemistry.
• Demonstrated success in teaching using innovative and inclusive methods.
• Ph.D. and postdoctoral research experience, including mentoring undergraduate students.
• Research interests complementary to current areas of expertise within the department.
