Assistant Professor of Biology - Animal Physiology

About the role

The Biology Department at Carleton College seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Animal Physiology beginning September 1, 2027. We expect to make an appointment at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and research with undergraduate students in a liberal arts environment. We are particularly interested in candidates who are committed to inclusive excellence in their teaching. Responsibilities

• Teach five courses per year within our trimester system, including Human Physiology and Lab, and regular contributions to Energy Flow in Biological Systems (BIOL126).
• Develop an upper-level seminar related to their areas of expertise and research strengths.
• Contribute to an active research program with Carleton undergraduates that contributes to their sub-field.

Requirements

• A completed Ph.D. in biology or a related field with postdoctoral experience is preferred, but applicants who will complete their Ph.D. by June 2027 will be considered.
• Members of groups traditionally underrepresented in Biology are strongly encouraged to apply.

Benefits

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $87,480 and $93,290. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
