Assistant Professor of Accountancy-Managerial Accounting
San Diego State University’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy in the Fowler College of Business invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Managerial Accounting, with expertise in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing, to begin August 18, 2027.
About the role
The successful candidate will join an AACSB-accredited accounting program serving approximately 800 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. The School offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – Accounting Major, Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), Master of Science in Accountancy and Data Analytics (STEM), and a combined 4+1 degree program (BMACC). The faculty consists of 15 tenure-track members plus full- and part-time lecturers. Research support includes access to WRDS and other databases, internal grant funding, graduate assistants, and conference-travel budgets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a vigorous, independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Managerial Accounting or Taxation.
- Engage in campus and professional service activities.
- Interact effectively with the business community.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Accountancy or a related field, completed by August 18, 2027.
- Record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments.
- Demonstrated capacity to teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Evidence of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies.
- Record of publications, presentations, and/or external funding.
- Proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative research, scholarship, or teaching.
- University-level teaching experience.
- Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
- Interest in service to the university, community, and profession.
- Understanding of the mission and goals of the School of Accountancy and SDSU.
- Engagement in service or research with diverse populations in higher education.
Pay
The anticipated salary range is $140,000 to $155,000, based on the CSU salary schedule and the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. Higher salaries may be offered in limited circumstances.
