San Diego State University’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy, within the Fowler College of Business, seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing to begin August 18, 2027.

About the School

The AACSB-accredited School of Accountancy enrolls approximately 800 undergraduate and 100 graduate students across four programs: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – Accounting Major, Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), Master of Science in Accountancy and Data Analytics (STEM), and a combined 4+1 degree program (BMACC). The faculty consists of 15 tenure-track professors and several full- and part-time lecturers. Research support includes access to WRDS and other databases, internal grant funding, graduate student assistants, and a dedicated research budget for conference travel and data purchases.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain a vigorous, independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses, primarily in Managerial Accounting or Taxation.
  • Engage in campus and professional service activities.
  • Interact effectively with the business community.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Accountancy or a related field, completed by August 18, 2027.
  • Record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated capacity to publish in quality, refereed journals, present at professional conferences, and maintain an active, innovative research agenda.
  • Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies.
  • Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding.
  • Proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative research, scholarship, or teaching.
  • University-level teaching experience.
  • Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Relevant service to the university, community, and profession.
  • Understanding of the mission and goals of the School of Accountancy and SDSU.
  • Engagement in service or research with diverse populations in higher education.

Pay

The minimum salary is set by the current CSU salary schedule and may be revised through collective bargaining. The anticipated range is $140,000 to $155,000, with placement based on qualifications and experience. Salaries above the published maximum may be offered in limited circumstances.
