Assistant Professor, Med-Surg - MCHS

General Summary

The Joyce E. Lillis School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Essential Functions

• Prepares and delivers didactic, lab, simulation, and clinical instruction, setting high and challenging academic standards, to students utilizing a variety of delivery formats (e.g., synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid, etc.).
• Uses various learning assessments to evaluate student mastery of course and program outcomes.
• Provides feedback on student's progress, in a timely manner, to facilitate academic success.
• Prepares and submits required documentation including course syllabi, student attendance, final course grades and other information as requested or required by the school.
• Maintains professional development/growth according to personal needs and requirements for licensure and certification.
• Participates in school and college committees and task forces as assigned; may be assigned duties including faculty advisor to a student club or organization; and/or mentoring other faculty.
• Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the school's mission, core values and goals.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

• Master’s degree in nursing, doctorate preferred.
• Minimum of three years of clinical experience providing direct patient care.
• Academic teaching experience preferred.
• Valid and current Iowa Nursing License.
• Demonstrated ability in managing, leading or training others.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize appropriate, varied, and innovative classroom/clinical/experiential learning teaching strategies.
• Demonstrated experience in project development and management.
• Excellent relationship building skills.
