Assistant Professor - Health Sciences
About the role
New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY) is seeking a full-time tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Health Sciences. The position begins in the Fall of 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the diverse offerings of the Health Sciences Department, both in-person and online
- Participate in program and curriculum development and assessment
- Engage in productive scholarship
- Provide service to the department, college, and university
- Develop and maintain relationships with professional organizations in the discipline
- Attend regional and national/international professional and educational conferences
- Prepare quality course material for class sessions, including instructional lectures, laboratory lesson plans, and effective assessment methods designed to meet course objectives and student learning outcomes
- Evaluate and offer feedback on student projects
- Prepare students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners before entering the healthcare profession
- Contribute to the departmental self-study as required by Middle States Accreditation
- Participate in activities, projects, and committee assignments within the university, college, and community groups, School of Professional Studies, and the Health Science department
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent
- The ability to teach successfully
- Demonstrated scholarship or achievement
- The ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Public Health, Health Care Policy Management, Health Service Administration, or related fields
- A minimum of five years of post-master’s employment in the health care industry
- Prior teaching experience in a diverse, multicultural setting
- Evidence of scholarship, such as peer-reviewed publications or peer-reviewed conference presentations
- A background in a higher education environment, preferably in instruction or training
- Proficiency with common higher education technological platforms and applications, e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Learning Management Systems (Brightspace, Blackboard), AI tools (Chat GPT, Gemini, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to seek and secure grant funding
