This is a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Meat Science within the Department of Animal Sciences at Auburn University's College of Agriculture. The projected start date is August 1, 2027.

About the role

The successful candidate will develop competitive and nationally recognized instructional and research programs focused on Meat Science, with an emphasis on extramurally funded research in post-harvest red meat production. The position is structured as 40% instruction and 60% research.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in meat science.
  • Develop and lead a research program in post-harvest red meat production.
  • Actively recruit and mentor graduate students.
  • Enhance experiential learning through laboratory instruction, student organizations, judging and academic teams, industry engagement, and undergraduate research experiences.
  • Build strong partnerships with industry stakeholders and professional peers.
  • Contribute to expanding applied learning experiences within the Department of Animal Sciences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Meat Science, Meat Processing, Muscle Biology, Food Science, Food Safety, Animal Science, or a closely related discipline by the time employment begins.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States at the time the appointment begins and continue working legally for the term of employment.

Pay

USD $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year.
