Assistant Professor - Management (Tenure Track - 9 month)
Ferris State University seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor - Management position.
About the Role
This is a 9-month, continuing faculty position based at the Big Rapids (Main Campus) with teaching responsibilities at both the Big Rapids and Grand Rapids campuses. The selected candidate must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship.
Faculty members are expected to foster a meaningful learning experience for students, advise, and integrate current technology into the learning environment. Teaching may include undergraduate and graduate courses, with potential for off-campus and online instruction. The role emphasizes student engagement, scholarly/professional activities, and participation in department, college, and university committees.
Responsibilities
- Teach full-time during the 9-month academic year, including elective courses in areas of expertise.
- Collaborate in curriculum development, assessment, and quality assurance for undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Advise students and maintain records in accordance with university policies.
- Participate in recruitment activities (e.g., Dawg Days, Admitted Student Days, high school visits) and university-outreach events, including some Saturdays.
- Serve on program, college, and university committees.
- Engage in scholarly/professional activities and remain current in the profession.
- Support student success through involvement with student organizations and competitions.
- Act as a liaison between the program and professional organizations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion in working relationships.
- Support and promote university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
- Perform administrative duties, including reporting student participation data and submitting final grades on time.
- Keep regular posted office hours scheduled at times convenient for students.
Requirements
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or DBA) in Management or a closely related field. If the doctorate is in a closely related field, at least 18 graduate credit hours in Management courses are required. ABD will be considered.
- Three years of industry experience.
- Degree must be from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of a specialized business-accredited program (e.g., ACBSP, AACSB).
- Entrepreneurial or small business management experience.
- Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Demonstrated ability to engage students outside the classroom (e.g., study abroad, field experiences, coordinating academic centers).
- MBA degree.

Advertised salary range: $95,000–$100,000, commensurate with education, experience, and other requirements.
