Assistant Professor- Law (Sustainability)

Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Law, with a focus on environmental law and sustainability.

About the role

The Department of Law offers courses to undergraduate and graduate business students in subjects such as Introduction to Business Law, Business Organizations, Law, Business and Sustainability, Environmental Law, Financial Technology (Fintech), Financial Regulation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Immigration Law, and Law and Legal Theory.

The Zicklin School of Business is AACSB-accredited and among the largest U.S. business schools. Located in Manhattan’s Gramercy/Flatiron district, Baruch provides opportunities to engage with the legal, banking, finance, technology, and government sectors. The school is New York City’s premier public business school, offering nationally ranked BBA, MBA, specialized MS degrees, and executive programs.

Faculty are expected to conduct high-quality scholarship, publish in prestigious law reviews, teach introductory and advanced business law courses (including Law, Business and Sustainability and Environmental Law), develop new courses, and contribute service to the Department, School, and College. Teaching may occur in multiple modalities (in-person, online, hybrid) and include programs on campus and with global partners.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality research and publish in top law reviews.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate business law courses, including Law, Business and Sustainability and Environmental Law.
• Develop new courses in environmental law, sustainability, ESG regulation, climate law, or related areas.
• Teach in multiple modalities (in-person, online, hybrid).
• Participate in Zicklin programs on campus and with global partners.
• Contribute service to the Department, School, and College.

Requirements

• JD degree or terminal law degree from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school, or admission to practice law in the United States.
• Excellent academic record.
• Record of scholarly publication and a rigorous research agenda.
• Commitment to teaching business law at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in environmental law, law and sustainability, ESG (environmental, social, and governance) regulation, climate law, or related areas.

Pay

$135,000–$150,000.
