Assistant Professor in Machine Learning, Biostatistics, and Bioinformatics
Position Summary
The Orthopaedic Research Center (ORC) at Colorado State University invites applications for a 9-month Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position specializing in Machine Learning, Biostatistics, and Bioinformatics. The selected candidate may be considered for appointment to the Abigail Kawnanakoa Chair, subject to Dean approval.

Required Qualifications
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field
- Doctorate must be completed by the time of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD completed prior to application
- Strong commitment to both teaching and research
- Potential to secure external research funding
- Expertise in: Biostatistics and machine learning, Multi-omics integration, Imaging and biological systems analysis, Advanced programming ability (Python, R, MATLAB)
- Jobs Experience with high-performance computing (e.g., cloud/server infrastructure)
- Proven publication track record and conference contributions
- Strong team collaboration and leadership experience (undergraduate to faculty levels)
- Successful grant-writing (PI or Co-PI)
- Excellent communication and cross-disciplinary research ability
- Experience applying ML or data mining for biological data interpretation
Essential Duties
- Research / Creative Activity: Develop an independent and collaborative research program, lead efforts in grant and contract development (NIH, NSF, DoD, etc.), publish in high-impact journals and conferences, generate summer salary via research funding
- Teaching: Deliver didactic courses within the Clinical Sciences graduate curriculum, engage in journal clubs and resident training sessions, lead seminars and workshops to support faculty and researcher development
