About the role

The School of Information at The University of Texas at Austin invites applicants for up to two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to start in Fall 2025. Candidates will be expected to conduct innovative and impactful research and to teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct innovative and impactful research on human-centered artificial intelligence (AI) systems through designing, building, and technically evaluating such systems.
  • Develop AI systems in research that advance support for human work or activities, e.g., by augmenting and amplifying the capabilities of individuals or groups of people.
  • Teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Strong record of research excellence demonstrated by publications in top-tier venues.
  • Experience in teaching at the university level.
  • Ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in one or more subfields of AI, including but not limited to machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), computer vision (CV), and generative AI and large language models (LLMs).
  • Interest in applying AI to support human work or activities.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams.
