The Assistant Professor is a full-time, tenure-track position in the Physician Assistant program at York College, CUNY. The program seeks highly qualified applicants to serve as principal faculty members with full participation in teaching, program administration, curricular development and assessment, student advisement, and scholarly research. The successful candidate will engage in student recruitment and admission activities, provide service to the college and the Health Professions Department, and participate in the program’s continuous improvement, self-study, and accreditation processes. Faculty in the PA program are allowed one day per week to practice clinically or engage in professional development activities. The faculty will also function as the Assistant Simulation and Laboratory Coordinator, coordinating the simulation lab, developing and conducting simulation sessions, managing administrative tasks, and coordinating all PA program laboratory sessions.

Responsibilities

• Teaching in areas of expertise (18-hour credit workload)
• Program administration and development
• Curricular content development and assessment
• Student advisement and recruitment
• Scholarly research and service to the college and Health Professions Department
• Participation in the program’s continuous improvement, self-study, and accreditation processes
• Clinical practice or professional development one day per week
• Coordinate the simulation lab, including developing and conducting simulation sessions
• Manage laboratory-associated administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and equipment, maintenance, and session scheduling
• Coordinate all PA program laboratory sessions (e.g., Anatomy Laboratory, Physical Diagnosis Laboratory, Clinical Skills Laboratory)
• Identify and analyze clinical curriculum strengths and weaknesses, suggest enhancements, and implement improvements via the curriculum committee
• Collect, evaluate, and assess didactic and clinical-related data required for accreditation

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree required; Doctoral degree preferred
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or a Physician who graduated from an accredited medical school
• Current certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), if a PA
• Active New York State Physician Assistant License (or eligibility for licensure) or Medical License (MD/DO)
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience
• Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience (may include clinical preceptorship)
• Simulation experience preferred

Pay

$105,588 – $112,841; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The annual salary is based on a nine-month work year paid over the 12-month calendar year. The PA Program operates on an 11-month basis, and faculty who work during the summer months will receive additional compensation at the appropriate CUNY rate.
