Assistant Professor, Graduate Programs in Counseling Psychology

About the role

Full-time faculty position with a 12-month contract. The primary focus is serving as a core faculty member in the Graduate Programs in Counseling Psychology, training master’s level students for careers as professional counselors. Responsibilities include teaching, conducting research, and providing clinical supervision at the onsite training clinic, Renew Counseling Center.

Responsibilities

• Teach an annual course load of 20 credit hours.
• Receive 12 hours of load release for Renew Counseling Center clinical activities, including:
  • Providing weekly group supervision for master’s level interns.
  • Providing weekly individual supervision for select master’s level interns.
  • Attending weekly didactics.
  • Maintaining a clinical caseload.
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
• Provide mentorship for students working on clinical competency projects.
• Attend and actively participate in staff functions such as admissions meetings, clinical competency evaluations, and annual reviews.

Requirements

• Profess faith in Jesus Christ, possess a strong personal Christian commitment, and be committed to the SNU mission to make Christlike disciples through higher education in a Christ-centered community.
• Understanding of the importance of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
• Conferred doctoral degree in counseling, clinical, or school psychology.
• Licensed or license eligible to practice in the state of Oklahoma at either the doctorate or master’s level (post-doctoral candidates will be considered and can be provided clinical and supervision opportunities to aid in licensure).
• Demonstrable success teaching in higher education.
• Demonstrable success in the practice of counseling or clinical psychology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in counseling/clinical administration.

Supervision

• Received: Supervision and work assignments from the Director of the Graduate Programs in Counseling Psychology.
• Exercised:
  • Provide group supervision for master’s level interns at Renew Counseling Center.
  • Provide individual supervision for select master’s level interns at Renew Counseling Center.
