About the role

The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Information School seeks highly qualified candidates for a tenure track position with research and teaching emphasis in the area of ethics of computing, data, and information. This position will be an academic nine-month, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level, to start in August 2023. This position is one of three new faculty positions that are part of a cluster hire in ethics of computing, data, and information. Other units participating in the cluster are the departments of Computer Sciences and Philosophy and the Holtz Center for Science, Technology & Society.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative research projects in the field of ethics of computing, data, and information.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in ethics of computing, data, and information.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to address ethical challenges in computing, data, and information.
  • Engage in professional service within the university and broader academic community.

Requirements

  • A PhD in a relevant field such as computer science, philosophy, information studies, or a related discipline.
  • Strong record of scholarly achievement in ethics of computing, data, and information.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills.

Qualifications

  • Research expertise in ethics of computing, data, and information.
  • Ability to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Interest in and commitment to interdisciplinary research and teaching.
