Assistant Professor, Entertainment and Hospitality Management

About the role

The Department of Management at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure‐track Assistant Professor position in Entertainment and Hospitality Management with an appointment to begin Fall 2027. CSUF faculty are teacher-scholars who teach broadly in their programs, advise and mentor students, and contribute through service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory and advanced courses in Entertainment and Hospitality Management, including but not limited to Entertainment Business, Entertainment Money Management, Entertainment Operations, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Music Business, Sport Management, and related subjects.
• Maintain an active program of peer-reviewed scholarship appropriate for tenure.
• Advise and mentor students.
• Participate in department, college, university, and professional service.
• Contribute to the Center for Entertainment and Hospitality Management and to industry, alumni, or community engagement.

Required Qualifications

• A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal doctorate in management, hospitality or tourism management, service management, sport management, entertainment, media or music business, or another closely related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment; ABD applicants may apply if all degree requirements will be completed before the appointment begins.
• Academic, research, teaching, and/or professional preparation relevant to Entertainment and Hospitality Management.
• Demonstrated commitment to and potential for excellence in university teaching.
• A record of, or clear potential for, peer-reviewed scholarly accomplishments appropriate to the rank of Assistant Professor.
• Ability to balance responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and service.
• Potential to use technology and evidence-based teaching practices effectively.
• Ability and commitment to communicate and work effectively with students, staff, faculty, and external partners in a culturally and professionally varied environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and inclusive excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional or industry experience in entertainment, hospitality, tourism, sport, media, music, events, services, or a related sector.
• Experience developing productive relationships with industry, professional associations, alumni, or community organizations.
• Ability to contribute across more than one area of the Entertainment and Hospitality Management curriculum.
