Assistant Professor - English

About the role

The School of Communication, English, & World Languages seeks an Assistant Professor for English to start in the fall of 2026. The position involves teaching English courses and supporting student success.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver student learning experiences and assess student progress.
• Provide constructive and timely communication with students and colleagues.
• Guide and mentor students in and outside the classroom to promote their success.
• Collaborate with colleagues to promote learning and professional growth.
• Engage in ongoing professional growth and development.
• Serve the college and community as an active contributing professional.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in English or Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in English.
• Primary teaching responsibilities in Composition courses.
• Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college.
• Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in English, experience in developmental or co-requisite English education, teaching experience at the community college or university level, and familiarity with dual credit teaching.
• Experience teaching Reading or Reading Credentialing is preferred.
