ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (DS13) - Department of Mechatronics Engineering

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
• Developing curricula and course material that can be used across a number of platforms.
• Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
• Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
• Conducting research, and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
• Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and outside of the institution.
• Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
• Providing support to students and other colleagues.
• Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possess a PhD or equivalent in relevant field (Mechatronics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering) from University recognized by the Government.
• Possess a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in relevant field from University recognized by the Government.
• Registered with BEM as Graduate Engineer.
• Possess excellent written and oral communications skills.

• Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.

Other Requirements

• Expertise in AI and ROS is a strong advantage.
• Having a Malaysian Professional Engineer or equivalent qualification with the Board of Engineers Malaysia will be an added advantage.
• Good publication track record would be advantageous.

Language Qualifications

• All Candidates Must Have Obtained Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognised by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
• IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4.
• Candidate without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
