ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (DS13) Department of Arabic Language & Literature

Post : Assistant Professor
Status of Appointment : Contract to Permanent (Malaysian Only)
Basic salary : Between RM6,210.00 to RM14,370.00 (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• To teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses delivered by the Department and as required, to teach on associated programmes offered by the university.
• To supervise student research/projects.
• To design and execute formative and summative assessment including marking that is aligned with student learning outcomes.
• To provide feedback to students on their learning through student consultations.
• To conduct research in areas as per discussion with Dean/Head of Department.
• To publish papers in top-tier journals and present papers at local and international conferences.
• To participate in the general life of the IIUM community.
• To advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct.

Minimum Qualifications

• A PhD in Arabic Language Studie/Arabic Linguistic Studies
• A Master in Arabic Language Studies
• A Bachelor of Arabic Language and Literature
• Published one article would be advantageous

• Ability to inspire students with your passion
• Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills

Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).

IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of these qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
